Leave for a domestic emergency
We realise that there might be times that you need time off unexpectedly that doesn’t relate to children or dependents.
You’re entitled to one day of paid leave in the following circumstances. Outside of this, any further time off will need to be taken as annual leave or unpaid leave:
- Where you are involved in a road accident or other similar accident (without injury)
- The breakdown or theft of your car
- A burglary at your home or a violent crime involving you
- Fire or flooding at your home
This isn’t an exhaustive list so always speak to your manager if you have a situation that might impact your work.
For the record, delivery of goods/services to your house (e.g., domestic appliance, boiler service etc.) is not considered an emergency.
